St Georges Open Day 3 Report

Day 3 saw two young guns qualify from the morning sessions while an ex Shropshire start and a current one came through the afternoon one. In the morning and Dan Taylor, recently a father, came through with impressive wins over Wayne Rogers, youngster Sam Williams and then edging Paul Stretton 20 in the qualifier. Leighton Roberts, a former Isle of Man winner, also navigated his way through after defeating Chris Kearns and Gavin Taylor 7.

Into the afternoon and former Shropshire player James Grimston returned and qualified, having two tough games against Mike Dulson and Gordon Hawkins before having a more comfortable win against Allan Parsons 12. Former Shropshire Merit Winner Martin Lloyd was the last qualifier defeating John Price from the Potteries and then Gavin Dunkley of Warwick and Worcester in his qualifier.

Tomorrow sees Lee Heaton and Stuart Mort come down from up north in the morning along with North Midlands star Paul Lamb and former Shropshire Merit Winner Rich Goddard. The afternoon and Greg Smith will be hot favourite to get through, while former Meole Brace Open champion Andy Hughes will be another one to watch.
