There were two quality fields at St Georges on Sunday with many big names not going through. In the morning and Sam Millward produced three excellent displays to defeat Elliott McGuinness, Mark Burdett and Lee Heaton 17 in the qualifier to get through. He was joined by Paul Lamb who produced a masterclass over the middle to defeat Lee’s North Lancs & Fylde team mate Stuart Mort 4. Lamby had also beaten another North Lancs & Fylde county player in Dave Jackson comfortably in the round before.
In the afternoon and there was an epic clash in the qualifier with Andy Hughes getting past Greg Smith 20 to get through. There was also another big clash between Warwick & Worcester team mates Ant Bracken and Gareth Herbert, with Ant’s experience getting him through 16.
