Four players battled through the snow, wind and the cold weather to earn their place in the last 32 of the St Georges Open, but the cream of the crop still rose to the top. Simon Coupe and Graeme Wilson both travelled down from the north to qualify, with Simon beating Nigel Ferrington, Ivan Smout in a close battle 19 and then Ben Ryder 10. Graeme defeated Conor Chamberlain 12 and James Martin 14 to get through, with 2016 All England Champion Matt Gilmore also qualifying after getting past Colin Scorah, Ashley Tattersley and Spencer Clarke 16. The final qualifier was Steve Morrey after he beat Nige Egan, Darrell Handley and Dave Watters 19.
The Sunday’s action was postponed because of the snow and rearranged for Good Friday on 3oth March.
