The first games of the new look Drakes Pride Junior County take place today with games in all three divisions. In the Premier Division and there is a repeat of numerous finals over the years as Warwick and Worcester play Shropshire. Warwick and Worcester won by 50 last year in the group stage but Shropshire have gone to Allscott Heath, where they have beaten Yorkshire previously, while Warwick and Worcester go to the big hump on King George V to get themselves a good home win. The other game in that division sees Yorkshire play Derbyshire. Derbyshire did draw with Yorkshire in 2012 but Yorkshire are reigning champions and favourites to win it again. They use Marsh United first of all, while Derbyshire go to Stretton Bowls Club. In Division One and it promises to be open for who will get promotion to the Premier Division. Matches here are only 10 a side, with a Midlands derby first of all between Staffordshire and North Midlands. Staffs have gone to Essington while North Midlands are going to Foleshill Gas. The other tie sees Lancashire play South Yorkshire, with Lancashire using Wigan Subscription Club, where last year’s Junior Individual Merit was held, and South Yorkshire going to Hallamshire Proprietary. There is one game in Division 2, a derby between Cheshire and Greater Manchester. Cheshire are using Crosstown while Greater Manchester are going to Harehill Park.
There should be live updates of the games here.
