Staffordshire are in pole position to be promoted to the Premier Division of the BCGBA Drakes Pride Junior County after beating South Yorkshire in a game brought forward a week. They won home and away in a dominate performance to be one win away from going up. At home on Short Heath Liberals they won by 33, despite a 21-5 win for South Yorkshire’s Josh Talbot at number 1. Owen Evans cancelled that out to be the best of 3 single figure winners in the first four for Staffs. Away and it started so well for the home side with three winners in the front led by Adam Thorpe winning 6, but they only had one more winner in the remaining games as Staffs fought back, their best being Tom Skidmore 11.
Staffordshire now know that any win over Lancashire in September will seal promotion to the big boys in the Premier Division.
