Greg Smith is hot favourite to win another Sandal Classic as he looks to win it for the third consecutive time. He takes on Brian Holdsworth first of all, with county players Gareth Lally and Billy Thornton just below him in the draw. Kez Smith has won major competitions before in the Isle of Man and West Brom, and plays Craig Hill to start with. Dan Petcher is another major competition winner, and takes on South Yorkshire county player Dean Missere.
Into the bottom half of the draw and Dave Robson plays Rob Dunford, with second favourite Callum Wraight, having been in hot form this year, taking on Mark Regan. Another South Yorkshire county player Richard Jackson plays Yorkshire star Liam Griffin, with another Yorkshire star in Graeme Wilson, having won this competition in 2009, playing county team mate Gareth Coates in the last match of the 1st round.
A large crowd is expected to gather for what promises to be a stunning climax to this year’s Sandal Classic.
The winner will receive the trophy and a £1,000 cash prize out of a total prize money pot of £3,860.
Practice commences from 3.30pm with play starting at 4pm. Spectators are most welcome and are politely asked to use the parking provided in the adjacent school car park. Hot and cold refreshments will be available.
