The BCGBA Junior Individual Merit takes place at Netherseal today at 10 a.m. as 32 juniors from 16 counties try to win the trophy, and with it a place at the Champion of Champions. The host county Derbyshire have two Furniss’ taking part as they look to win on home soil, Louie and Joshua, who take on James Mather of Lancashire and North Lancs & Fylde’s Ben Mills. Shannon Kernick of Warwick and Worcester and Sam Williams of Wales looks the tie of the round, with Shannon’s county team mate Nathan Crocombe playing Jack Last of Cumbria. Matty Worden and George Chapman qualified for the Senior Individual Merit Finals day, and will look to use that experience when playing Mark Bushell from Cheshire and Ethan Wareing of Yorkshire respectively. George’s county team mate Liam Dennis plays Dillon Christopherson of South Yorkshire, with another South Yorkshire player Tom Wiltshire taking on Merseyside’s Zoe Stratton. Joe Dicken of Staffordshire will have plenty of support, and is against Kieron McGarry of Greater Manchester first of all, while his team mate Cody Everitt, plays Sam Farmer of Yorkshire. Shropshire’s two qualifiers Harry Church and Kieran Jones both play players from Potteries & District, Tom Farmer and Matt Packett respectively. Bethany Kennish, daughter of multiple competition winner John, takes on Callum Sharples of Cumbria, with her county mate Glenn Boland playing Greater Manchester’s Tom Prosser. Other ties include Aaron Hayhurst of North Lancs & Fylde playing Cheshire’s Robert Mills and Owen Turner of Mersesyide taking on Lancashire’s Philip Young.
