BCGBA Junior Individual Merit Finals Review

Matty Worden from Wales won the 2018 BCGBA Junior Individual Merit to earn himself a place in the Champion of Champions. He prevented the first ever female winner of the event, as Shannon Kernick of Warwick and Worcester was his final opponent, and beat her 17 in a closely fought game. He used his experience from playing in the Senior event last month as he defeated Mark Bushell 8, Nathan Crocombe 20 in his closest game, and then Owen Turner and Harry Church 11. Shannon had a fine run, being the first female to reach the final. She beat Sam Williams 12, Callum Sharples 19, Kieron McGarry 14 and Louie Furniss from the host county Derbyshire 12. In the Quarter Finals and Harry Church beat Liam Dennis 17 and Louie defeated Tom Wiltshire 13.
