King George V and Haunchwood will contest the 2018 Free Press Cup Final after coming through narrow semi finals. KGV beat the George by just 8 chalks, with a 35 shot win at home key, Paul Lamb and Jason Galvin winning 5 and 6 respectively. Ryan Prosser and Paddy McGuinness were the only winners for the George, both 20. Over at the George and Frank Leek’s 5 win was crucial in keeping down the damage to just 27, especially considering that Pete Davenport and Matt Price won 5 and 6 respectively.
The other Semi Final saw two bigger home wins, with Haunchwood’s 50 shot win the bigger against Willenhall Nordley. 6 winners at home were key, as Matt Aspin’s 4 win was the best of them, along with Shane Day’s 8 win. At Nordley and Phil Perry’s 16 win was crucial for the visitors in keeping them down to a 43 shot win, despite Paul Evans winning 2.
