The BCGBA Jack & Jean Isherwood Veterans Championship takes place today at Prees with 32 veteran players chasing the title and a place in the Champion of Champions. Noel Burrows is a former winner and plays Derek Cadamy first game. Martin Gilpin will be one of the favourites given his experience in big competitions, and plays Brian Holdsworth, while Bob Hitchen is another who has won most the game has to offer, and starts off against Kevin Duncalf. There are two Melvins in the draw in Mark and Joe, who face off against Tony Bosworth and Anthony Eades respectively. Local hopes include Derek Wright and Ian Foster, who take on Stuart Hanson and Barrie Shaw respectively. Barrie Sadler has played in Shropshire too recently and has Gary Roberts at the bottom of the draw, while Kevin Nicholas has too, and has Brian Mallon. Bill Kinchin and Dave Clarke both enter plenty of competitions still in Warwick and Worcester, and play Mark Myles and David Phillip respectively. John Bonatti is another Welsh qualifier, and plays Paul Stretton. Other games feature Pedro Yates and Ronnie Newton, Lynda Cadamy versus Ian Johnson, Mick O’Donnell against Phillip Goulding and Bill Griffiths up against Mike Fieldhouse.
The action starts at 10. All games 21 up off 3.
Full draw is here, with live scores hopefully after 12.
